What is field lens?

◆ A lens that works near the focal plane of the objective lens and can effectively reduce the size of the detector.

◆ To be precise, the field lens should work in the image plane of the objective lens.On the one hand, the object plane of the field mirror and the main plane coincide. According to the characteristics of the main plane, the magnification of the field mirror is 1, so it makes no contribution to the magnification of the system. On the other hand, the field lens should project the aperture of the objective lens onto the entry pupil of the eyepiece, which in the case of a single lens is the exit pupil, thus ensuring that the maximum amount of outgoing light from the objective lens passes through the eyepiece.If used in a scanning system, the probe replaces the entry pupil of the eyepiece.

◆ According to the wavelength, field lens can be divided into the following categories:

◆ According to the design concept, there are f-theta lens and telecentric lens, among which the cost of telecentric lens is very high. F-theta lens is mainly adapted in industrial fields.

The main functions of field lens are:

(1) To improve the ability of edge beam going to the detector.

(2) In a same main optical system, the additional field lenses will reduce the detector area. If the same detector area is used, the field of view can be enlarged and the incident flux increased.

(3) The position of the image surface can be given to place the modulation disc to solve the problem of nowhere to place the modulator.

(4) To uniform the non-uniform illumination on the photosensitive surface of the detector.

(5) When using a flat field lens, the flat field image can be obtained.

(6) In the aspect of aberration correction, the field curvature and distortion of the system can be compensated.
