On January 16, Oxford Instruments (UK) announced the completion of its acquisition of French professional camera supplier First Light Imaging. Upon completion of the acquisition, First Light Imaging will officially become part of Oxford Instruments Andor, which not only enriches the company's scientific camera portfolio, but also provides strong support for its expansion into neighboring markets.
Under the purchase agreement, Oxford Instruments will pay an initial cash consideration of EUR 15.7 million (USD 17.2 million) and an additional EUR 3 million based on First Light Imaging's performance within 12 months of the acquisition. There is no cash or debt involved in this acquisition.
The Oxford Instruments Group has a wide range of businesses including Andor Technology (high performance scientific cameras, microscopy systems and spectrometers), Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology (plasma physics products and solutions) and WITec (Raman imaging and related microscopy technologies). These business areas encompass a range of optical imaging systems, cryostats, and products such as chemical vapors, ion beams, and atomic layer deposition tools.
First Light Imaging's product line is used not only in scientific and life science research, but also in a wide range of surveillance and machine vision applications, including hyperspectral imaging and thermal imaging technologies. The acquisition will further enhance Oxford Instruments' strength in scientific imaging and provide additional opportunities for expansion in related markets.
