Recently, Germany's leading optoelectronics company Jenoptik revealed in its performance report that its annual sales revenue crossed the 1 billion euro mark for the first time last year, and is expected to continue to maintain the growth momentum in 2024.
According to preliminary figures, Jenoptik achieved sales of 1.07 billion euros in 2023, up 9 percent year-on-year, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) reached 210 million euros.
Stefan Traeger, CEO of Jenner, commented: "Despite the increasingly complex global economic environment, Jenner achieved a satisfactory result in 2023. We not only achieved growth in revenue and earnings targets, but also advanced our capacity expansion as planned and significantly reduced our leverage. Yena demonstrated strong growth potential in all three of its core markets: semiconductors and electronics, life sciences and medical technology, and smart mobility. As a result, we are confident in our earnings growth for the current fiscal year and look forward to achieving our goals in 2025."
Traeger further forecasts that the company's profit will continue to grow in the current fiscal year and is on track to meet its 2025 targets - i.e., annual revenues of €1.2 billion and an improvement in the EBITDA margin to 20%, a slight increase from 19.7% in 2023.
Despite a dip in order intake for 2023 - down 8% year-on-year to €1.09 billion from €1.19 billion in 2022 - Yena remains optimistic about the future.
Yerner noted that the main growth driver last year was its Advanced Photonic Solutions division, which continues to benefit from strong demand from the semiconductor equipment industry. The business line is expected to receive a further boost in 2025 with the opening of a new site in Dresden. The micro-optical manufacturing facility in the heart of the "Silicon Saxony" will specialize in the production of high-end optics and sensors, primarily for semiconductor lithography applications.
Notably, the Dresden plant will be equipped with a high-end electron beam lithography system capable of producing products with 10-nanometer precision. Yena announced last month that the system will incorporate a "cell projection" function, opening up a wider range of possibilities for micro-optical applications.
Additionally, Yena recently introduced a new diode laser package at SPIE Photonics West, which utilizes a new heat sink design that is particularly suited for pumping high-power solid-state lasers. Compared to the previous "CS" option, the new "LS" design demonstrates superior performance in the 9xx nm wavelength range, with continuous wave output power levels in excess of 150W for both pumped and direct diode systems.
Based on the substantial order backlog and the solid development of the core optoelectronics business, especially in the field of semiconductor equipment, the Executive Board of YANA is confident that it will achieve further profitable organic growth in fiscal year 2024.
