Discussing The Prospects Of Laser Industry Development Professor Yoshiaki Nakano Of The University Of Tokyo Visited CKI

Prof. Yoshiaki Nakano is a renowned scholar in the Department of Electronics at the University of Tokyo. His research area is compound semiconductor opto-electronic devices, including semiconductor lasers, optical modulators, photonic integrated devices, and multi-junction solar cell chips, etc. Prof. Nakano's team works in the Laboratory of Information Devices, Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST), and the Laboratory of Smart Materials and Devices.
Established in November 2016, the Nakano Research Institute and Nakamura Laboratory is a scientific research institution that carries out research and development of laser lighting and other industrial technologies, grasping the direction of solving the problem of how to industrialize laser lighting. The visit is not only part of Prof. Nakano's personal academic journey, but also a microcosm of cross-border exchanges and cooperation in the field of science and technology.
During the visit, leaders and professors from the School of Physics and Optoelectronics Engineering of Shenzhen University gathered at Light Peak Technology for on-site research and in-depth discussions on the development prospects of optoelectronic devices and various new application scenarios for the industrialization of laser display.
After the experts from industry, academia and research visited the exhibition hall of Light Peak Technology and experienced the wide application scenarios of the industrialization of laser display and laser lighting, they had extensive and in-depth discussions on the technological research and development of semiconductor lasers and their industrialization applications. Prof. Nakano expressed his appreciation for the achievements of Nakasu Institute (Nakamura Laboratory) and Optronics in the field of lasers, and shared his own research experience in related fields. He expressed his appreciation for the breakthrough innovation in laser fluorescent display technology made by OptoPeak, and was impressed by the industrialization results made by OptoPeak in the fields of cinema, engineering, consumer and automotive.
At the same time, Prof. Nakano also expressed his views on transnational exchanges and cooperation in the field of science and technology. He believes that with the increasingly fierce global competition in science and technology, it is particularly important for countries around the world to strengthen scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation. Before the epidemic, Prof. Nakano came to China more than once a year. By sharing each other's research results and technical experience, we can not only jointly promote scientific and technological progress, but also provide strong support for the development of technological innovation and industrial iteration and upgrading.
At the end of the seminar, Prof. Nakano also said wryly, "There are many research topics in the field of compound semiconductor optoelectronics, especially when I saw that OptoPeak has achieved great success in using GaN-based blue laser to excite fluorescent materials for laser display; I am a little bit regretful that my mentor at that time wasn't interested in GaN materials, and he set his research direction on GaAs lasers. I am willing to recommend Koufeng's laser (display technology) to more friends, and I hope that Japanese theaters will also use ALPD laser display technology soon."
"Subsequently, I am willing to come and go to China more often to make my own contribution to Sino-Japanese scientific and technological cooperation." Prof. Nakano said that this international academic exchange not only enhances the friendship and cooperation between Prof. Nakano and Nakamura Research Institute (Nakamura Laboratory) and Optical Peak Technology, but also injects new vitality into the future transnational exchanges and cooperation in the laser industry. It is believed that in the future, they will carry out in-depth cooperation in the field of optoelectronics industry, academia and research, and jointly promote the progress and development of global science and technology.
