Coherent Introduces Industry's First Single-mode Bias-preserving Erbium-ytterbium Co-doped Fiber

Recently, the U.S. laser and optical technology provider Coherent (Coherent) officially announced that the industry's first single-mode (SM), bias-preserving (PM) erbium-ytterbium co-doped fiber has been formally launched, designed for high-power 1550 nm, narrow linewidth and single-frequency amplifiers and design.
This makes Coherent the first company to support pure single-mode (SM), bias-modified (PM) fiber with average power in excess of 20W.
The core innovation of the Coherent product is the combination of superior high power performance and beam quality, resulting in unique and unprecedented performance. Additionally, the product features a design philosophy that emphasizes manufacturability and lightweighting, with a unique 130-micron geometry, thanks to Coherent's proprietary manufacturing technology.
We are proud to introduce the world's first single-mode, bias-preserving erbium-ytterbium co-doped fiber designed for high-power applications," said Kanishka Tankala, vice president of specialty fiber products at Coherent. This breakthrough technology is not only ideal for quantum computing and coherent LIDAR research, but also greatly enhances the power scalability of current single-frequency amplifier systems."
To ensure customers enjoy the best beam quality and coupling efficiency, Coherent also offers precisely matched passive fibers that can be used to fabricate passive optics or for beam delivery.
To meet different needs, Coherent also offers a wide range of customizable erbium-ytterbium co-doped fibers covering a wide range of compositions, numerical apertures, and large mode fields for virtually all application scenarios.
The PM-EYDF-10P/130-XPH and matching passive fiber products are currently available and can be purchased and used by customers immediately.
