Ames Osram, a global leader in lighting and sensing innovation
(SIX: AMS) made its debut today at the 2026 Lightwave China (LWPC) in Shanghai, unveiling a series of laser products featuring its latest blue multimode laser chips and publicly showcasing for the first time its first high-power, multi-chip integrated, single-source laser. These innovative achievements mark AMS Osram's continued breakthroughs in blue laser technology.
Ams-OSRAM staff introduced two blue laser products on site, explaining how to respond to diverse application needs with precise light sources.
As a new generation product for precision processing, ams-OSRAM PLPT945OMD_E is a high-power blue laser diode in a rugged TO90 package. Its wavelength range covers 434-470nm, supports precise 2nm band binning, the electro-optical conversion efficiency can reach up to about 48% (depending on the wavelength), and the optical output power can reach up to 7W.
Compared with the previous generation product, the optical output power of this device is increased by up to 25%, and the efficiency is increased by about 15%. The high brightness and high power density enable it to achieve cleaner processing results, deeper marking depth and stable and reliable processing performance in cutting, marking, engraving and welding applications, providing more cost-effective product solutions. In lighting, projection and entertainment applications, the high brightness of PLPT9450MD_E combined with phosphor conversion technology can support wider color gamut performance. At the same time, with its system cost advantages brought by its high power, high efficiency and wavelength accuracy, this product can help build a more compact and economical laser system, making it an ideal choice for high-demand optical system design.
