What is MOPA fiber laser?
MOPA, the main oscillation power amplification, it is an innner device in laser source to amplify the seed signal light with high beam quality and the pump light by coupling into the double-clad fiber in a certain way, so as to realize the high power amplification of the seed light source.
Its prominent characteristics are:
◆ The role of the main oscillator is to produce high-quality seed light, the output power can be large or small, so the output light is easier to achieve the required time domain, frequency domain characteristics and maintain good beam quality.
◆ The main function of power amplification is to amplify the seed light, which ensures the high beam quality of the output light and realizes the high power and high energy output. That is, it combines the advantages of the good pulse characteristics of low power seed source and the high power amplification characteristics of double cladding amplifier.
The MOPA structural light source is shown in the below picture: it is mainly divided into two parts. The left virtual frame is a seed light source with high beam quality output, and the right virtual frame is a fiber amplifier structure of one or more stages. The two parts together constitute a main oscillating power amplifier light source.
