1. Slag spatter

In the process of laser welding metal, the melted material splashes everywhere and will adhere to the surface of the metal workpiece. This can lead to metal particles on the surface of the workpiece, affecting its aesthetics. Generally there are three reasons for this problem: one is due to excessive power of the laser welding machine causing the metal material to melt too fast; the second is because the surface of the material is not clean; and the third is due to too strong gas.

To solve this problem only need to adjust according to the above three reasons. Properly reduce the power; will be the surface of the metal material for cleaning; reduce the gas pressure.

2. The weld seam is too high

Laser welding can look very unattractive if the weld seam appears significantly higher than the conventional level, resulting in a wide weld seam. This problem occurs because the wire feed speed is too fast, or the welding speed is too slow.

To solve this problem simply reduce the wire feed speed in the control system or increase the welding speed.

3. Welding Offset

The laser welds metal without solidifying at the material joint. This misalignment problem can cause the welded metal part to fail. The cause of this problem is incorrect positioning of the weld, or inconsistency between the wire feed and the laser irradiation.

To solve this problem, you need to adjust the laser offset and swing angle in the board or check the connection between the wire feeder and the laser head for deviations.

4. The color of the weld is too dark

When laser welding stainless steel, aluminum and other materials, the weld color is too dark will make the weld and the material surface to form a strong contrast, thus affecting the beauty of the finished product. The reason for this problem is that the laser welding machine power is too high; or the laser focus is incorrectly set, causing the melt pool to be too deep, the material is over-melted, which leads to a sunken weld seam.

To solve this problem need to adjust the laser welding machine power; or adjust the laser focus.

7. Uneven weld seam thickness

After laser welding the workpiece, the phenomenon of uneven weld seam thickness occurs. Sometimes the weld seam is too large, sometimes too small, sometimes normal. This problem is often caused by errors in light output or wire feeding.

Solving this problem requires checking the stability of the laser and wire feeder, including multiple aspects such as power supply voltage, cooling system, and laser welding control system.

8. Beveling at the weld

If the weld is not well bonded to the material, conditions such as beveling can occur, which can seriously affect the quality of the weld. This problem occurs when the laser welding speed is too fast, resulting in the molten pool is not evenly distributed on both sides of the material; or when the material gap is large and the filler material is insufficient.

Solving this problem requires adjusting the laser welding machine power and speed according to the strength of the material and the size of the weld seam; or later filling or repair work.



When using a fiber laser welding machine, you should also pay attention to the following issues:

1. When performing welding work, the laser welding gun nozzle should be downward. If standing welding is done from the top down, it may cause sparks to drop down into the inside of the welding nozzle and cause damage to the laser lens. When welding flat, the laser welding nozzle should weld with the material at an oblique angle of 45° from front to back.

2. When replacing the protective lens for the fiber laser welding machine, be careful to do it in a clean environment. The laser welding gun head should be protected with a paper cover to prevent dust from entering the inside and damaging the lens during long-term use.

3. When the wire feeder is stuck, you need to check whether the laser welding gun is usually, whether the wire feeder tube is usually, and also check whether the wire disc rotation is normal. Especially when welding aluminum, we must pay attention to this problem, because the hardness of aluminum is low, so it is easy to cause jamming and wire feed is not smooth these situations.
