October 20, by the Wuxi Binhu District, Liyuan Economic Development Zone, Shanghai Jiao Tong University tripartite construction of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Wuxi Photonics Chip Research Institute building on schedule, marking the Photonics Core Valley Innovation Center (Phase I) ushered in another engineering milestone node.
As the Binhu District racing quantum technology track "number one project", but also the region's future industrial landmark, the project is located in Liyuan Economic Development Zone, the core zone, in November 2022 to start the construction of a total investment of 250 million, with a total floor area of 17,144 square meters, of which the R & D area of 6,497 square meters. After the completion of the project, it will become a comprehensive platform integrating key technology research and development, product development, achievement transformation and industrialization, and talent cultivation, and create a top domestic quantum science and technology industry core area agglomeration with Liyuan Development Zone as the key area and radiating to the whole region.
According to the introduction, the first and second floors of the building are for scientific research and pilot laboratories, innovation platforms and scientific research facilities, etc., constructed according to the standards of the world-class photonic chip pilot platform, deploying six platforms such as thin-film lithium niobate photonic chip platform, femtosecond laser machining platform, testing platform, encapsulation platform, intelligent sensing chip platform, reliability verification platform, and so on, and possessing a total of more than twenty ultra-clean laboratory systems at all levels, and additionally There are oil-free compressed dry air system, ultra-clean deionized water system, zero-discharge wastewater treatment system and other supporting facilities.
It is reported that the project can reach the standard of equipment entry in December this year, it is expected that the building will be fully put into use in May 2024, when it will provide strong support for the development of quantum science and technology industry in Binhu and even Wuxi."
