World's First Active Laser Carbon Dioxide DetectionCompletes In-orbit Test

Recently, the Department of Ecological Environment Monitoring of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with the Earth Observation and Data Center of the National Space Administration (NASA), organized and convened a summary review meeting of the in-orbit test of the atmospheric environment monitoringproject in Beijing. The meeting listened to the Summary Report of Atmospheric Environment Monitoring Satellite Project In-orbit Test, and after discussion by the experts, they unanimously agreed that: theis in good condition in orbit, the functions of each sub-system are normal, and the indicators of star-ground integration have reached the requirements of project development. Thehas the ability to be applied to the core business of the industry and can be put into use.
The atmospheric environment monitoringwas developed and launched by the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (also known as "Shanghai Academy of Space Technology"), and is the world's first active laser carbon dioxide detection satellite. Theutilizes active laser, hyperspectral, multispectral, high-precision polarization and other means of integrated observation to achieve a wide range of fine particulate matter, pollutant gases, greenhouse gases, clouds and aerosols, as well as the land surface, the water column and other environmental elements of large-scale, continuous, dynamic, all-weather comprehensive monitoring for China to achieve the precise prevention and control of atmospheric pollution, the goal of carbon peak carbon and carbon neutrality, remote sensing data to support, and to promote the synergistic effect of reducing carbon and pollution, and to help the construction of a low-carbon beautiful China. The company is also working on the construction of a low-carbon and beautiful China.
"Equivalent to five passengers put together a space special car, they hold a variety of measuring instruments, the atmosphere of fine particulate matter, greenhouse gases, gaseous pollutants, clouds and aerosols and other atmospheric environment as well as the water environment and other ecological and environmental elements for continuous, dynamic integrated monitoring." Earlier, Zhang Yanzhao, deputy chief designer of theattitude orbit control subsystem of the control institute of the eighth academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group, said.
Since the successful launch of theon April 16, 2022, thedevelopment team together with the user units, solidly promote thein-orbit applications, for the first time to realize the active laser carbon dioxide global, all-day, high-precision detection, generated with fully independent intellectual property rights of the global carbon dioxide active laser monitoring of remote sensing data products, to fill the gaps of carbon dioxide monitoring of the polar region. At the same time, the team actively tracks environmental hotspots and plays an important role in remote sensing monitoring of the atmospheric environment in various aspects such as response to heavily polluted weather, safeguarding major national activities, and monitoring of emergencies. This meeting marked the successful completion of the in-orbit test of the atmospheric environment monitoring satellite, laying a solid foundation for the delivery of thein orbit and putting it into operational use.
