Well-known Fiber Laser Manufacturers Sign Strategic Cooperation!

Recently, nLIGHT, a supplier of high-power semiconductor and fiber lasers, and EOS, a global leader in additive manufacturing technology, signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to work together to advance a joint strategic technology partnership to apply nLIGHT's beam shaping lasers to EOS's metal additive manufacturing systems.
The collaboration between nLIGHT and EOS includes the implementation of a range of complementary laser-based technologies to optimize additive manufacturing light engines for robust industrial 3D printing production.
It is reported that nLIGHT and EOS plan to digitally deliver beam shaping and light engine optimization capabilities that will enable customers to access different beam profiles through EOS software, resulting in a more efficient and flexible printing process.
Previously, AMCM, part of the EOS Group, has introduced programmable AFX lasers in metal additive manufacturing systems. The signing of this Letter of Intent between nLIGHT and EOS marks a new chapter in the relationship between the two companies.
Founded in 2000 in Vancouver, Washington, nLGHT is a global leader in the development, design, and manufacture of innovative laser technologies and products for a wide range of industrial, micromachining, aerospace, and defense applications. nLGHT has expanded its business globally with a global footprint that spans the U.S., China, Finland, South Korea, Austria, and Italy. nLGHT's semiconductor lasers operate at unique Operating at a unique combination of wavelengths and power, its high-power continuous wave fiber lasers offer significant advantages over conventional fiber lasers in terms of programmability, maintainability and reliability. nLGHT's semiconductor lasers are designed to meet the needs of a wide range of industries, includingand defense.
EOS, on the other hand, provides responsible manufacturing solutions to organizations around the world through cutting-edge industrial 3D printing technology. Since its founding in 1989, EOS has continued to guide its customers to breakthroughs and innovations in manufacturing with its end-to-end Additive Manufacturing (AM) industry partnerships.
nLIGHT's programmable AFX lasers offer superior performance, providing a wide range of beam configurations from 85 micron high-precision contouring spots to 210 micron ring configurations in a single laser, which not only improves print speeds, but also enhances process stability and effectively reduces soot and splatter. Compared to the standard 400W process, the nLIGHT AFX laser prints up to three times faster on 316L steel and aluminum.
Commenting on the partnership, Scott Keeney, nLIGHT's CEO, said, "EOS is a leader in the additive manufacturing industry and we are honored to be working with a company that shares our vision of driving innovation in the field of additive manufacturing. nLIGHT's and EOS's teams and technologies are highly complementary and we look forward to building on the early success of the AMCM. AMCM's early successes and further integrate our laser technology into EOS' broader product portfolio."
Marie Langer, CEO of EOS, is also looking forward to the partnership, "We remain committed to exploring the industry's cutting-edge technologies to drive the industrialization of additive manufacturing, to meet emerging application needs and to exceed customer expectations. nLIGHT's beam shaping and laser technologies bring significant advancements to our metal additive manufacturing systems and will help our customers unlock new levels of productivity."
According to the plan, nLIGHT and EOS will deliver AFX technology-enabled equipment to customers by the end of 2024, embracing a new chapter in additive manufacturing together.
