Recently, the Department of Ecological Environment Monitoring of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with the Earth Observation and Data Center of the National Space Administration (NASA), organized and held a summary review meeting of the in-orbit test of the atmospheric environment monitoringproject in Beijing. Representatives of the Department of Ecological Monitoring of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Department of Science and Technology and Climate Change of China Meteorological Administration, Aerospace Department of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Satellite Environmental Application Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, representatives of the participating units, industry experts, and representatives of themodel and payload development team attended the meeting.
ACDL, the main payload of the atmospheric environment monitoringdeveloped by Shanghai Institute of Optics and Mechanics (SIOM), is the laser remote sensing payload with the most complete detection system, the most wavelengths, the highest energy, the most stable frequency and the most observational elements in the international launched lidar. Since its start-up on May 17, 2023, the ACDL has successfully acquired global all-day CO2 column concentration distribution data, filling the gap of monitoring global CO2 concentration in polar regions and at night, with an accuracy of better than 1 ppm compared with the transit ground-based CO2 reference station, and the ACDL will provide accurate data for the estimation of carbon sources and sinks globally, and will serve for the monitoring of CO2 concentration of greenhouse gases in the national dual-carbon strategy with high accuracy. High-precision monitoring, but also for the global climate and meteorological research to provide high-precision carbon dioxide concentration, as well as aerosols, cloud vertical profile distribution data, significantly improve the global carbon monitoring and air quality monitoring capabilities, to achieve the ecological environment, meteorology and agriculture and other fields of quantitative remote sensing service capabilities of the leaps and bounds, marking China's in the field of global atmospheric environment monitoring to achieve a milestone leap.
In the future, with the continuous expansion of application scenarios and the deep excavation of application potential, the atmospheric detection lidar will continue to play an important role in global climate change research and global environmental governance, and open up a new era of global atmospheric carbon monitoring.
