Recently, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Physics and Chemistry Wang Jingxia researcher and the team solved the blue phase liquid crystal 0 ℃ below the laser emission problems, so that the blue phase liquid crystal laser to achieve an ultra-wide temperature range from the lowest -180 ℃ to the highest 240 ℃.
This not only opens the door to the development of low-temperature blue-phase liquid crystal lasers, but also provides important insights into the design of new organic optoelectronic devices.
The resulting blue-phase liquid crystal lasers are expected to facilitate the development of lasers for different temperature occasions. This includes both low-temperature environments such as polar, deep sea, and aerospace, as well as high-temperature environments such as deserts, military space activities, and metallurgy.
Meanwhile, with the flexible characteristics of blue-phase liquid crystals, they can be built into movie curtains, flexible laser display panels, wearable laser display devices, and so on.
When the blue phase liquid crystal is designed and coded, a laser anti-counterfeiting label can also be created to realize the transmission and exchange of information. In addition, based on the blue phase liquid crystal laser circular polarization emission, if a certain light field design scheme, it is also expected to realize the naked eye 3D laser display.
Undoubtedly, this ultra-wide laser temperature range of over 400°C, especially the realization of high-quality laser emission below 0°C, is a major breakthrough in the field of blue-phase liquid crystal lasers.
Eventually, the related paper was published as "Super-Wide Temperature Lasers Spanning from ?180 to 240 °C Based on Fully- Polymerized Blue Phase Superstructures" (180 to 240 °C Based on Fully- Polymerized Blue Phase Superstructures). Super-Wide Temperature Lasers Spanning from ?180 to 240 °C Based on Fully- Polymerized Blue Phase Superstructures" was published in Advanced Materials.
