North Laser Institute Won The 2023 Fifth Optoelectronic Materials And Devices Strategy Forum Academic Newcomer Award

Recently, on the "2023 Fifth Optoelectronic Materials and Devices Strategy Forum" held in Xiamen, the report "Power Enhancement of LD Direct Pumped Mid-wave Infrared Pulsed Solid-State Laser" made by Comrade Zhang Mang of the 902 Department of the Laser Institute won the "Academic Newcomer Award" of the General Assembly. "Academic New Talent Award".
As a member of the "Basic Innovation Team of Group Companies" of the Laser Institute, under the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Zhang, based on the team's achievement of the first realization of mid-wave infrared laser light output in the 3.9 μm wavelength band with holmium-doped gadolinium fluoride-doped barium crystals pumped directly by semiconductor laser, achieved a three-fold increase in the power of mid-wave infrared pulsed solid-state lasers by means of systematic theoretical simulation and effective optimization of the cooling structure of lasers. Optimization of the laser cooling structure, to achieve more than three times the laser output power. Now, the team is also working on the next step to integrate the calculation results of laser dynamics, hydrodynamics and thermodynamics into the theoretical simulation and composite design, in order to realize another leap in light output power. The results of this research have laid a solid theoretical and engineering foundation for the future of the same system mid-wave infrared laser of the Laser Institute towards the practicalization and mass production.
