LioniX International, a global leader in the design and manufacture of silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits (PICs), recently announced that the company has appointed Ronald Dekker as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective January 1, 2024, the company said.
Ronald Dekker has more than 25 years of expertise in materials engineering, microfabrication, integrated optics, packaging and assembly. He will be responsible for leading the company's technical operations, directing research programs and driving LioniX's further development in the integrated photonics ecosystem.
He has held key roles in LioniX International's merged companies LioniX BV, XiO Photonics BV and SatraX BV, making valuable contributions to the direction of the Components and Modules Group.
Prior to joining LioniX International, he held a number of leadership positions, including Senior Research Fellow at the University of Twente's Research Chair in Integrated Optical Microsystems and Chief Technology Officer at XiO Photonics. His outstanding contributions at XiO Photonics have focused on standardization and assembly methods for integrated optics. His extensive experience background stems from his BSc in Applied Physics and PhD in Integrated Optics from the University of Twente, The Netherlands.
Ronald Dekker's extensive experience background is based on his academic career, having himself earned a BSc in Applied Physics and a PhD in Integrated Optics from the University of Twente, The Netherlands.
As a key member of the management team, Ronald Dekker will replace former CTO René Heideman, who has expressed his full support for this personnel change, stating: "I have been Chief Technology Officer of LioniX International BV since its founding in 2001. I am very pleased to see Ronald De Deux. I am delighted to see Ronald Dekker as my successor and he is the right person in the right place to steer LioniX forward. As a strategic business developer, I am excited to continue working for LioniX to support its further growth in the silicon nitride PIC revolution."
