WEC Group, one of the UK's leading engineering and manufacturing companies, has recently announced that it has completed the acquisition of Laser Profiles Ltd, a leading precision laser cutting company in Bournemouth.
WEC Group has been providing fabrication, laser cutting, precision machining, waterjet cutting, powder coating and CCTV installation solutions for over 40 years.
The company said the acquisition, based at Laser Profiles Ltd, is part of its long-term growth strategy to expand its presence across the UK and strengthen its market-leading position in outsourced manufacturing.
Laser Profiles Ltd has been operating for more than 25 years now and has established itself as a leader in the provision of bespoke laser cutting and manufacturing solutions across a number of key supply chains in the South of England. This new partnership aims to leverage the unique strengths of each company to optimize production capabilities and enhance services to customers across a range of industries.
Laser Profiles Ltd has a range of technologically advanced equipment, including a fully automated, state-of-the-art Trumpf fiber laser machine capable of high quality cutting at very high speeds. The company also has an Adige Fiber Tube laser machine, which enables them to provide customers with round, square, angle and channel profiles.
In addition to this, they have a full suite of in-house fabrication service capabilities, including precision sheet metal fabrication and welding.
Founded in 1979, the WEC Group now employs around 900 people across 15 divisions and operates in a wide range of industries including aerospace and defense, oil and gas, nuclear, mining and automotive.
Whether it's laser cutting, waterjet cutting, plasma cutting, CNC machining, CNC stamping, certified welding and fabrication, heavy engineering, robotic bending, powder coating/wet spraying, sandblasting or architectural stainless steel fabrication, the company is able to efficiently meet the demands of subcontract engineering and metal fabrication. The Group also runs its own in-house training academy offering apprenticeships in welding/fabrication, CNC machining and laser/bending operations.
As a result of ongoing investment, the Group has grown significantly over the last few years. In addition to its Darwin head office, the company currently operates from a number of manufacturing sites and offices in Lancashire, Merseyside, Yorkshire, Lanarkshire and the West Midlands, with a total manufacturing floor space of approximately 700,000 sq ft at the production plants.
By partnering with the WEC Group, Laser Profiles will be able to access more advanced technical resources and a wider range of markets. WEC Group is now one of the largest metal processing and fabrication companies in the UK, with 25 laser cutting machines, 23 bending machines, 3 waterjet cutting machines, high precision plasma cutting machines, as well as more than 40 CNC machine tools, 200 skilled welders, 13 robotic welding cells and a full range of in-house powder coating and wet paint coating capabilities.
James Pickles, WEC Group Service Center Manager, said, "The addition of Laser Profiles to the WEC Group is another important milestone in our expansion plans. As our first manufacturing site in the South of England, it will open the door to further growth and enable us to reach new target markets. This acquisition allows us to capitalize on the synergies between the two, enhancing our ability to meet our customers' needs and further reducing manufacturing lead times."
WEC Group has a strong track record of successful acquisitions in the past, including the acquisition of metal fabrication specialist MTL Advanced in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, the acquisition of HTA Group, a subcontract supplier of laser cut parts, sheet metal components and assemblies in Coventry, West Midlands, and the acquisition of 5750 Components in Knowsley, Merseyside. Each of these acquisitions has strategically expanded WEC's capabilities and further market reach, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in the UK manufacturing supply chain.
The integration of the Laser Profiles Ltd acquisition will benefit all stakeholders, with growth and promotion opportunities for existing staff within the wider organization, and customers enjoying a more comprehensive range of services that will enhance supply chain efficiencies and deliver greater value to customers.
James Pickles added: "We look forward to a smooth integration and to realizing the anticipated benefits from this acquisition.Laser Profiles will effectively be our gateway to the southern market and we have very ambitious plans to leverage our industry expertise to significantly increase the size of its business.
