Recently, Laser Photonics Corporation (hereinafter referred to as: LPC), a manufacturer of laser cleaning equipment, announced that the company received a purchase order from Phillips 66, a global oil refiner.

According to the company, Phillips 66 has now purchased LPC's CleanTech IR-3040, an industrial-grade handheld laser cleaning machine, and MarkStar PM-2010, a compact desktop laser marking machine.
The CTIR-3040 utilizes laser ablation technology, which provides a non-contact method of cleaning and machining surfaces without the use of abrasives or chemicals.Phillips 66 plans to use the CTIR-3040 to remove scale that forms during pipeline and pressure vessel maintenance, as well as prior to regular facility inspections preparation for repainting. After a period of testing, the company is considering implementing a laser solution to replace the sandblasting process.
The MSPM-2010 laser marking system will be used to mark data plates on refinery pressure vessels that are periodically re-rated. The technology provides a high-speed, consumable-free solution for creating permanent, crisp marks on a variety of materials.
