Lanzhou University Lidar Atmospheric Remote Sensing Team Receives Funding From The National Major Research Instrument Development Program

Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China announced the 2024 National Natural Science Foundation of China major scientific research instrument development projects (free application) funding list, Lanzhou University, College of Atmospheric Sciences, led by Professor Huang Zhongwei "advanced multi-excitation wavelength full-spectrum bio-aerosol LIDAR development" project has been approved for funding directly. The project was approved, with a direct funding of 7.62 million RMB and a research period of 5 years.
The project is oriented to the health effects of bioaerosol climate and environment, epidemic prevention and control and biosafety and other major national needs, Lanzhou University as the lead unit, jointly declared by Beijing Joram Laser Technology Co. The project will form a major scientific device with independent intellectual property rights in China, realizing "multi-dimensional CT scanning" of bioaerosols at different altitudes. The results of the project will provide key equipment for real-time and accurate detection of the vertical distribution of actual atmospheric bioaerosols, which will have important application value in the fields of atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences, epidemic prevention and control, biosafety and other bioaerosol monitoring and early warning related fields.
This project is the first major instrument development project approved by Lanzhou University LIDAR atmospheric remote sensing team after 17 years, and also the third national major scientific research instrument development project approved (free application), which fully demonstrates the school's strong strength in the development of high-end instruments in the field of atmospheric remote sensing, and is a concrete practice for the school to focus on the strategic needs of the country to speed up the promotion of basic research and to build a national important weapon.
The National Major Research Instrument Development Program is a major landmark project set up by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, which is oriented to scientific frontiers and national needs, and guided by scientific objectives, and finances the development of original scientific research instruments and core components that play an important role in promoting the development of science, exploring the laws of nature, and exploring the field of research, so as to enhance China's original innovation capability.
It is reported that Lanzhou University Lidar atmospheric remote sensing team has long been committed to the sand and dust aerosols and bio-aerosols laser remote sensing research, has developed the first multi-band Raman - fluorescence Lidar, dual-wavelength polarization Raman Lidar, three-dimensional scanning environmental monitoring Lidar and airborne visibility Lidar, etc., the relevant technology has been approved by the national invention patents 12, international invention patents 2, and has successfully realized the Relevant technologies have been approved with 12 national invention patents and 2 international invention patents, and successfully realized the transformation of scientific research achievements and won the first prize of Gansu Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress.
