Launching meeting and implementation program discussion meeting was held in Shenzhen University of Technology. Professor Yao Jianquan, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Fan Dianyuan, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Liu Qiang of Tsinghua University, member of "14th Five-Year" National Key Research and Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, "New Display and Strategic Electronic Materials" Key Special Project Group, and Professor Liu Qiang of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Airborne Information Innovation and Technology Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Professor Liu Qiang of Tsinghua University, researcher Zhang Jing of the Institute of Space and Information Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, researcher Yu Libo of the Southwest Institute of Technical Physics, and more than 40 well-known experts in the field of lasers in China were invited to participate in the meeting.

The project is led by Shenzhen University of Technology and jointly undertaken by Shanghai Laser and Plasma Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics, Jiangsu Normal University, Institute of Semiconductor Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Da Nu Laser Science and Technology Industry Group Co. The project is oriented to the national demand for high-power, high-energy ultrashort pulse laser advanced light source, for the crystal sheet processing and a new generation of gain device preparation in the key scientific and technical issues to carry out research, collaborative research, pioneering and development of China's independent intellectual property rights and characteristics of the high-energy sheet of ultrafast laser technology and realize industrial application.

This meeting was presided over by Academician Yao Jianquan and Academician Fan Dianyuan as the leader of the group, and the participating experts visited the research progress of the project. Professor Ruan Shuangchen, chief scientist of the project, expressed warm welcome to all academicians and experts attending the meeting, made a general report on the project research content, implementation program, etc., and introduced the project's work progress in the year 2023 and the next implementation plan. Since the implementation of the project, the project team has always been oriented to the national high-energy ultrashort pulse laser major demand, around the domestic thin-film lasers and core device research and development of key scientific and technological issues in a concerted manner, and has made important progress. It is the first one in China to realize the packaging of Yb:YAG thin-film crystal with a diameter of >20mm, and to design and develop a kilowatt-class 48-stroke pumping system. Then the project leaders, Prof. Qitao Lu, Prof. Jie Ma and Prof. Xiaohui Zhao, reported in detail the current progress and future plans of each project.

The expert group listened to the implementation plan report, after the demonstration and questioning, the expert group unanimously agreed that the development of thin-film laser is of great significance to the development of China's laser technology, and fully affirmed the progress of research and development and industrialization of domestic thin-film lasers and core devices since the implementation of the project, and unanimously agreed to pass the demonstration of the implementation plan. At the same time, the expert group hopes to continue to accelerate the process of industrialization of thin-film lasers, and contribute to China's high-end manufacturing industry.
