Dutch supercontinuum laser company SuperLight Photonics announced that it has appointed Cees Links as CEO.
SuperLight Photonics is actually a branch of the University of Twente (Twente University), and the company specializes in the development of broadband lasers and white light lasers for applications such as focused spectroscopy, OCT, crop management, surface inspection and pollution detection based on PIC solutions.
Fully integrated supercontinuum spectral sources on aare essential to enable applications such as portable and mechanically stabilized medical imaging devices, chemical sensing, and light detection and ranging. Earlier this year, a research team at the University of Twente in the Netherlands proposed a scheme in which the input energy requirement for integrated supercontinuum spectral generation is dramatically reduced by several orders of magnitude, with bandwidths generated over an order of magnitude of 500-1,000 nm. by means of alternating dispersion of the symbols in CMOS-compatible silicon nitride waveguides, the efficiency has been improved by 2,800 times.
Publicly available information shows that Cees Links himself is a university graduate from Twente University in the Netherlands with strong business development expertise in Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), WiFi, Integrated Circuits (ICs), wireless technologies and agile methodologies.
Earlier in his career, he served as Director of Product Management at NCR Computers and General Manager at Lucent Technologies, a U.S. provider of telecommunications hardware and software equipment and services. He also served as Vice President at Agere Systems, a supplier of integrated circuits and optical communication components, Founder and CEO of GreenPeak Technologies, a low-power RF semiconductor company, and General Manager at Qorvo, a supplier of RF integrated circuit products. Prior to joining SuperLight Photonics, he was a founder at Information Links.
Cees Links is considered a pioneer in the Wi-F space. Under his leadership, his team developed the first wireless LANs for PCs and laptops, which ultimately became the home Wi-Fi technology that is now widely integrated into computers, smartphones and connected smart devices. He also pioneered the development of access points, home network routers and hotspot base stations. He participated in the establishment of the IEEE 802.11 standardization committee and the Wi-Fi Alliance, and was instrumental in establishing the IEEE 802.15 standardization committee. As the "Father of Wi-Fi," Cees Links worked with Steve Jobs to create the Apple iBook and Airport hotspot with Wi-Fi Internet access, and after a deal with Apple in 1999, the company became a leader in wireless LANs for laptops. After striking a deal with Apple in 1999, wireless LAN gradually became a standard feature in laptops and kicked off the widespread use of Wi-Fi.
