Dongguan Layout Of Advanced Attosecond Laser Facilities, Plans To Start Construction This Year

Dongguan continues to heavily layout major science and technology infrastructure construction, further enhance the city's science and innovation capacity. Dongguan recently announced the "2024 major projects plan", the preliminary arrangements for the city's major construction projects 780, total investment of 794.3 billion yuan, the annual planned investment of 112.6 billion yuan, the arrangement of the city's major preparatory projects 126, the estimated total investment of 121.9 billion yuan.

New infrastructure renewal project, Songshan Lake, mainly Huawei Dongguan Taiwan Science Park cloud project, with a total investment of 1.4 billion yuan, the main building data center project for the pilot laboratory building and supporting, with a total floor area of about 60,000 square meters, mainly engaged in cloud services, the company's internal data support services. Dongguan Songshan Lake communications project, with a total investment of 200 million yuan, investment in the construction of research and development laboratories and their ancillary supporting facilities room, mainly research and development of various communications products. In terms of planned new projects, this year's total investment of nearly 2.9 billion yuan of China Scattered Neutron Source Phase II project will usher in a new start, mainly the construction of 11 neutron spectrometers and experimental terminals, to enhance the beam power of the gas pedal and the target station, to meet the strategic needs of the country and the world's scientific frontiers of the research on high-performance neutron scattering requirements.
The advanced attosecond laser facility, which is also located in Songshan Lake, will also be built this year. With an investment of 1.5 billion yuan and an area of 140 acres, the project will build five types of attosecond light sources, including an extreme ultraviolet attosecond light source, and construct related research platforms according to the application objects of these light sources. It is expected that in the future, the system will have an important role in promoting ultrafast optics, ultrafast physics, ultrafast chemistry, and ultrafast engineering, and will enable various universities, colleges, research institutes, and enterprises across the country to apply for the use of this international state-of-the-art scientific device.
The China Scattered Fractured Neutron Source (CSFNS), located in Songshan Lake Science City, is the world's fourth and China's first pulsed spallation neutron source, with eight spectrometers successfully exiting the beam since it was completed in 2018, and is one of the key supports for Guangdong's source innovation. The above new infrastructure projects represented by major scientific and technological infrastructures are expected to further promote Dongguan's industries and science and technology to promote each other and double-strength, thus renewing more science and innovation sagas for the city's development.
