Recently, BLM Group, an Italian laser tube processing group, announced the launch of an LT-Free five-axis laser cutting system that can be used for laser cutting and processing of any three-dimensional metal profiles, including bending and forming, hydroforming, extruding, deep-drawing, planar, or press-formed tubing or plate.
The 5-axis laser cutting system delivers up to 4kW of fiber laser power and is suitable for processing mild steel/copper/aluminum/brass/stainless steel/galvanized steel.
The company says it can process finished products in a single work cycle, eliminating the handling and storage of semi-finished products and increasing productivity, which ultimately reduces raw material handling costs, streamlines the entire production process, and saves inventory space.
In addition, it enables trimming and parametric design cutting on curves. With laser cutting, processed parts are not deformed and the LT-FREE's 5-axis ensures precision and repeatability.
The user can select the material type and thickness through the controller, and the machine automatically sets the cutting parameters and the optimal focus position. A series of operations such as cutting, drilling, punching, milling and deburring can be done sequentially on one machine. A 3D model of the part can be imported in the office, the machining cycle and robot can be programmed, and then the cutting process can be simulated using ArtCut to capture machining times. Everything is done offline and ready to go straight into production. On the machine, the user can make modifications, set up micro-connections and activate Active Tools proactive tools in an extremely simple and clear graphical interface via the touch screen.
