Advanced Laser Light Source Powerhouse Luxinar Acquired!

Recently, TroGroup, a family-owned laser giant with global operations in Austria, announced a major strategic move - the successful acquisition of Luxinar Ltd., a leading laser source manufacturer based in Hull, U.K. This move marks the next step in TroGroup's technological leadership in the field of laser sources. The acquisition marks the next step in TroGroup's technological leadership in laser sources.
With this acquisition, Luxinar, with a team of approximately 200 people and more than 25 years of laser technology expertise, is a key support for TroGroup's newest division, Iradion Laser.
Bernd Badurek, CEO of TroGroup, commented: "After the production of Trodat seals and Trotec laser plotters, Iradion is now officially the third pillar of our group through the integration of Luxinar. Our deep investment in the field of laser sources stems from a strong belief in the enormous growth potential of this sector."
With this acquisition, TroGroup's fully upgraded Iradion laser source product line will cover a wide range of options from multiple technologies, powers, wavelengths to pulse durations, providing customers with an unprecedented array of rich solutions.
According to a report by market research firm SPHERICAL INSIGHTS, the global market for laser technology is expected to grow from $16.83 billion in 2023 to $34.07 billion by 2033, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.31% during the forecast period. Both parties in this merger are expected to get a big slice of this market.
Luxinar, a company with deep roots in Hull, UK, is renowned for its ability to manufacture up to 1,000-watt laser sources and its innovative technology for femtosecond laser sources.
With a global sales network in Germany, Italy, the US, China and Korea, Luxinar serves a diverse range of industries including semiconductor, electronics manufacturing, packaging, textile, automotive and medical technology, with a cumulative total of more than 25,000 lasers installed to perform a wide range of processing methods such as ablation, cutting, drilling, marking, piercing, scribing and welding. Data show that its current annual turnover has been nearly 40 million euros (equivalent to about 312 million yuan).
In 1998, Luxinar was founded in Kingston upon Hull, Willerby, England, which was still part of the global Rofin-Sinar Group. In the same year, the first CO?laser sources were shipped, followed by the first MULTISCAN fractional laser marking machine in 1999.
2016 saw the move to a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility in Hessle, Kingston upon Hull, UK. The building is spread over two floors and offers 7,500 square meters of manufacturing space with room for future expansion. The factory is conveniently located near transportation networks to the rest of the UK and the rest of the world.
Looking back at TroGroup's growth in the laser source sector, since the acquisition of US-based Iradion Laser Inc. ten years ago, the laser powerhouse has continued to consolidate and expand its market presence.
The addition of Luxinar to Iradion's portfolio has certainly brought a quantum leap in revenues and number of employees, as well as an expansion of the product portfolio into more future-oriented high-tech areas, including the processing of technical ceramics, glass, textiles, and many other materials.
Andreas Penz, CEO of Iradion, noted that China and the United States are key growth poles in the global laser source market, and Luxinar's relative absence from the U.S. market provides Iradion with ample room for expansion. "Through our global infrastructure, we will significantly enhance Luxinar's market coverage and drive the development of innovative specialized equipment." He also revealed that TroGroup has installed more than 35,000 laser sources worldwide, continuing to provide strong support to sister companies such as Trotec.
Bernd Badurek, CEO of TroGroup, warmly welcomed Luxinar's 200 new members to the TroGroup family as they embark on a new chapter in laser source technology: "This acquisition will facilitate the maximization of synergies and help us to continue to lead in the global laser source market and technology. "
