Laser soldering is a method of brazing in which a laser is used as a heat source to melt the tin to achieve a tight fit on the solder. Soldering of PCB master parts
Nowadays, chip-level packaging (IC packaging) and board-level assembly in the electronics industry both use a large number of tin-based alloy filler metals for soldering to complete the packaging of the device and the assembly of the card. The traditional soldering process for PCB boards includes wave soldering and reflow soldering, etc. Wave soldering is the use of molten brazing material circulating through the crest surface to contact the PCB soldering surface with the inserted components to complete the soldering process. Reflow soldering involves placing brazing paste or solder tabs between the PCB pads in advance, heating them and then connecting the components to the PCB by melting the brazing paste or tabs. For laser soldering, what selective wave soldering and reflow soldering can do, laser soldering can also do, but selective wave soldering and reflow soldering will produce pollution, laser soldering will not. But reflow soldering to do large quantities of flat is easier, laser soldering is the choice of welding, on the small, light, thin, vertical welding is very good, is the reflow soldering can not replace; most of the precision digital electronics industry such as: headphones, semiconductor, communications, automotive, fuse, wire type electronic devices, CCM module, FPC/PCB/FCP board and so on using laser soldering machine more advantageous.
Laser soldering of camera modules and VCM components
The VCM components in camera modules have small solder joints that are difficult to see with the naked eye, and traditional soldering methods are no longer sufficient to automate the soldering of VCM components. With a minimum spot size of 50 microns or even less, and spot shapes that can be designed to be round, square and other shaped, the rapid development of modern laser optics provides an advanced soldering method for precision parts like VCM components.
Solder paste laser welding is generally used in the reinforcement or pre-tinning of parts, such as shield corners reinforced by solder paste at high temperature melting, the tin melting of magnetic head contacts; it is also suitable for circuit conduction welding, for camera modules and VCM voice coil motor welding effect is very good, such as camera modules, because it does not exist complex circuit, through the solder paste welding often achieve good results. For precision micro and small workpieces, solder paste filler welding can fully reflect its advantages.
